Van Cleef & Arpels has opened its first boutique in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, it has emerged.

The luxury French jewellery designer which has been a favorite with Hollywood starlets in the past such as Marlene Dietrich, Ava Gardner and Elizabeth Taylor has now brought its creations to an apartment-style "intimate" shop in Riyadh, according to ameinfo.com.

Other stars who have bought Cleef & Arpels pieces include Julia Roberts, Sharon Stone and Scarlett Johansson, as well as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Princess Grace of Monaco, and Queen Sirikit of Thailand, the news provider has reported.

According to the website: "Van Cleef & Arpels collections are articulated following the different themes and styles that have emerged during the last century. Delicacy, subtlety and elegance are the main features of the pieces."

Part of the company's wedding collection includes a platinum ring with round diamonds of up to 1.16 carats.
